Paul McCartney's Lamborghini To Be Auctioned At Goodwood

In the early days of Lamborghini's foray into car building, before the Countach and the flying doorstop designs that came with it, Paul McCartney bought an example of the much-revered 1967 400GT 2+2. Under the hood sits a 4.0-liter V12 which produces 330hp and will take the 400GT to 60mph in 7.5 seconds and to a top speed of 156mph. Those were impressive figures for 1967 and McCartney held onto the car until 1979 when he sold it to its current owner.

Both owners have taken good care of the car though the 45,000 miles on its odometer, and it had extensive restoration work done to it. It will be auctioned by Bonhams at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it is expected to fetch between £100,000 and £120,000. Joining it on the auction block will be such absurdly exotic cars as a 1925 Bugatti Type 35 and a 1988 Porsche 959. Photos courtesy of bonhams.com.
