But if the straights got shorter, that means you should be able to increase downforce as your straight-line-acceleration time is shorter, even if acceleration is more frequent.
They're running less downforce because of those long straights if I'm correct. Sure it isn't the HUGE straight it used to be, but still enough to get the prototype cars to get past 200mph still (I think)
The Ferrari driver did exactly what he was told to do, and that was to stay on the racing line. The fact is the p1 cars are running very little downforce, if this happened in the older Audi he wouldn't have crashed. drivers not at fault here..
In the first crash I agree that he should have been more careful, that was not a good place to try and overtake. But I think that the 2nd crash was the GT drivers fault, the Audi flashed it's lights and tried to pass the Ferrari on a straight, and

Mcnish saw a slower Audi over the crest, he reacted, went around the slower Audi, not knowing the gt car was even there. not anyone's fault really, guess that's why they call them accidents. Oh and that's not a slow corner, great place to pass!
Andrew. You couldn't be more wrong. The first crash was just a worst case scenario and the second was the Ferraris fault

I actually wanted the 908s to beat the R18 partially because of the Audi fanboys here, but overall I didn't really care. No American teams competing up there. But congrats to Corvette Racing!
It's racing guys.any corner or straight is a opportunity to pass someone. But good judgement wins the race.

Look at that guy with the boom mike he gets hit with carbon fiber parts at his legs and drops him,and if it wasn't for that barrier he would of died.

That's why you should always try to pass to the outside of a car. Even in running we pass on the outside so we dont get disqualified if someone knocks into us on purpose or not, just so that we won't get dq'ed or in this example, would crash.
That wreck was very scary for Audi and the other wreck was also with a Ferrari so two ferraris took out two of three audis!

I didnt watch the full race (wish I could've) but IMO Allen McNish chose the wrong time to pass. :/ and was going too fast for that corner anyways
