Some of you need to quit believing everything Top Gear says, and put your money where your mouth is. If a $400,000 Aventador couldn't beat a $110,000 Vette, I doubt they'd sell many. It's like you guys are diametrically opposed to change... Off the top of my head I can say that Vette would be lighter and/or have better balance if one/both of these changes were to be made. What's actually, factually bad about these changes?

That's exactly what they did in the late 90s. They put the LS1 in both the Camaro and Vette. Shot themselves in the foot.
But also in the vettes favor is, they wouldn't want to split the sales of 2 v6's (camaro) so safe bet for now no 6. (but Shelby and 6's are near for ford) so beware!
You have to adjust to the market or die off. There isn't room in gm's stable for a new mid engine car AND vette. Same reason the charger isn't 2 door, would fight the sales of the challenger.
This would be a Dodge Charger incident all over again.
I don't care if you can get just as much horsepower and better fuel economy with a V6, its a muscle car, needs raw V8 power.
As far a V-6? Resounding NO. All the people screaming V-6 want justification for driving their cylinder deficient vehicles. Why not just make a smaller displacement V-8?
Why not keep the Corvette, position it slightly downmarket, and introduce a new model with DISTINCT nomenclature. I think a mid-engine supercar is a great idea. Just don't bane it corvette, and keep the entry fee around sixty.

V6's are making great strides, but as stated, leave it to the camaro. Mid engine? Would be interesting. I'm open to that if it can improve the car.
Gm has made a seriously fast car, but it's getting stale. It's time for a major overhaul. Rather it be a style change than a dt or cylinder change.
Got in too big a hurry Rooks. Your right about it being a straight 6. Like Ken I wish they had made a dedicated track model like Porshe's GT3 RS. The Z06 was a half step in the right direction but fell short.
But they shouldn't go under 6.2L for any model. The 5.5L is the same block, so it will weigh as much. I have heard that the 5.5 is the same block.

And the LS1/2/6/7 gets better fuel economy than most performance V6 engines. So CAFE can go to hell. I make 30+ mpg in 6th going 65

A top trim over the ZR1 should be made that doesn't have o follow tradition. A hard core track car. Mid engine, light weight, TT LS7.

Wat noone cares about the mid engined possibilites? Or noone believes it will happen? I think it might happen for the zr1, any of the lower models would have to be front engined for cost purposes.
V6 is a great idea. All the posers who drive their Corvettes like Camry's can have that one. I'll have the v8.
this car isn't fit for anything less than a V8.
The Corvette makes cafe standard through gearing and the skip shift. The only time the Vette had a V6 is at it's inception in 1953 with the Blue Flame which was rectified by 1955. Corvette is a V8 car by heritage and should remain so.

A V6 in a Corvette is blasphemous. If people want V6 fuel economy, they can buy the Camaro.
Gm's new 330 hp LFX V6 engine would b a good option as long as it's a twin turbo version as a OPTION. I think they should def keep the new Gen 5.5 LS motor as the main engine option though.
