According to a report from Autoblog Spanish, Kia is looking to launch their first EV model sometime in 2013. It will supposedly be based on the Venga EV concept that originally debuted at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but Kia is likely to power the car with a lithium-ion battery that sends power to the electric motor that can produce around 80 hp. The car should have a range of about 87 miles and a recharging time of six hours using a standard household power outlet.
It was also reported that Kia may built two thousand test cars before the final production model goes on sale in 2013. We can assume the Venga (if the name sticks) will be similar in both size and price to the Nissan Leaf.
