Geneva 2011: Wiesmann Spyder Concept

If you're that minimalist speed seeker, then the Wiesmann Spyder may be just for you. Described by the automaker as a "two-seater, extremely purist, convertible," it's definitely far from being pretty. The Spyder concept design is based on the Wiesmann brothers' early drawings, but now incorporates their many years in sports car building. The brothers claim they received a lot of interest from their buyers about building an "extremely purist model."

Weighing less than 2,200 lbs, it's powered by a 420 hp V8 that takes it from 0 to 62 in just four seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph. As you can tell, there's no windscreen or even doors. The inside is equally bare with just the steering wheel and its mounted LCD screen that displays the engine readouts. For now, Wiesmann is saying it is just a design study, but they haven't ruled out putting it into production. If that were to happen, don't expect to see it on the road before 2012.
