Geneva 2011: Infiniti Etherea

Infiniti has presented what can only be described as a purely conceptual concept car at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show opening. The Japanese automaker states that it would be 2014 at the earliest before Infiniti launches head-first into the European market that's presently dominated by the likes of Audi and BMW. That's why the Geneva study has been carefully constructed by Infiniti in order to build the company's European credentials.

Under what we lies the Renault-Nissan Megane family platform; however, we can expect that the real vehicle will be based on an up market version of the next-generation version of this architecture. The concept is supposed to be built around a gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrain, which uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a CVT transmission and lithium-ion battery pack. Designers describe the Etherea Concept as a "four-door coupe" but one that will give the appearance of a long-bonnet, rear-wheel drive car.
