@Reinaldo My dad has a base 2011 now too. I must agree. I helped him look for a month and the Jetta was by far the best, which is why he got it I didn't even see in the article that it said it had the I5.
If I were to buy a more luxurious VW sedan I would get the CC. I love those things
I have a 2011 Jetta and the base is actually a 2.0 114hp engine... I have and SE with the 5 cyl 170hp and it feels better than almost anything for that price and looks a hell of Alot better than the old Jetta...
But the thing is, this base model is at the top end of our model. So you're getting the most basic car, for nearly the most expensive price. Sure it gets more stuff, but is it really going to be worth it? Have to wait and see
As long as the base models stay, I'm fine with that. I can see how VW fans are disappointed so giving them a better, more expensive model makes sense
Description: Kind of ironic now that Ford, GM, and even -gasp! - Chrysler are building much better interiors and VW was previously one of their interior benchmarks. The tables appear to have turned on this one.

I have owned the last 2 versions of the Jetta and currently have a 2.0t Wolfsburg. I will not be owning a 3rd- I have no interest in plastic dashes and 1980 Chevy Citation rear suspension. I have been willing to pay mid 20k for a better car.
The plastic in it seems to be nicer than the plastic in Cadillacs. I don't even realize it's plastic until I look at it close enough or feel it. If VW can cut costs and still keep up with everybody else, then everybody needs to step it up even more
@Shaun Have you even been in a new Jetta? Yes the interior is worse, but that's like saying the Lambo Gallardo Spyder is slower than the coupe. It's still fast and the Jetta is still pretty nice
@Mike I think they are talking about the Euro Focus which we're getting soon. If they aren't then I have no idea what they're talking about
The Ford Focus is a better car in every way. Having messed with one at the Baltimore car show. I can say the interior rocks along with the rest of the car
Unless you're talking bout the focus RS, I really don't care about all those crappy US engineered focuses. I'll take the German/Brit RS version anyday
I don't really see any tables turned. If VW is upgrading US standards, that just means that the 3 cowboys are back to catching up again.
Answering to the question, I never had major issues with my car...and I still like the style too. When the CC came out, I thought the VW just won another loyal customer...Admirable design. Well I can't say the the same thing after theDetroit Autoshow
The front of the new Passat remind me that of the American Honda Accord, and the taillight of the older version of Kia Optima. And what about the engine...??? Where are the innovations? One cannot even choose the 2.0T engine, what I have right now...
I don't see that in the styling Czezar. I see an Audi with Golf headlights. Anyways, how reliable is your VW? If it's had any problems, how many and were they expensive?
I am 100% agree! VW is doing backsteps instead of forward... I own a 2006 Passat, and I thought I will trade in for the new one... But forget about. I don't need a VW Passat which looks like a hybrid of Accord and Kia Optima!
Vw cut back for cheaper cars... Other car makers are making better interiors but they include that I'm the price... And they're still better interiors even more than Mazda or Honda
Well VW is still on par or better than it's competitors, considering they cut back and other people improve, that's pretty sad
@Tom Scirocco R? A Scirocco with 260hp (GTI has 200). Or Golf R which has 266 and 4WD!

The Golf R is amazing with 4WD, but the Scirocco R is alone sexy hatch.

The Euro VWs are better than the American ones, but it probably won't be 24k. More like 20 ish.
I would be happy with either but I think the Scirocco looks better than the Golf. And if it's AWD I will for sure buy one
