I've done 120 in my stock 92 accord with over 200k and didn't have a problem (I was dumb an in HS) still have it with 266k and still runs like a champ and is still stock no dumb ass tunning or any of that shit.
Taking the limiter off isn't tuning Brandon. Is that what u do when u say u tune ur parents eclipse? Prolly not even a gsx. Had a 96 talon tsi. Rod bearing was pooched tho.

After doing some math, the driveshaft is limited to 83% of its speed at which it gave out (112/135). Because of centripetal force, the stress it experienced is the square of the rotational speed, so at 112 mph, it's at 70% load. Ps. The interior parts fell apart because the driveshaft blew up under the cabin and probably went through the floor panel. Which probably destroyed the center console...which is plastic
Uhm. U take the rev limiter out and hit 8k. In most cars the engine would have blown hitting redline like that Props to the engine withstanding that and luckily it was the driveshaft.
It's tough to generalize to an entire brand unless you really have JD power data (or somebody else's data) based on thousands of vehicle examples to back you up.
Lol @Brandon. Ford trucks don't do so bad in reliability studies but mustangs do, Ford manufactures in many different plants based on many engineer teams so it's usually hard to make a general statement about all of a manufacturers cars (except BMW)
My nineteen year old thunderbird can do 165 on the stock shaft and rides smooth as glass an quiet.

Fords are usually the most reliable American vehicles, their trucks are always way better than gm especially. Another example crown victorias are really reliable. I like BMW and Honda the best but still.

I like how almost everybody that mentioned that their car can go that fast, has a v8 in it, not a v6. If he didn't take the limiter off, he wouldn't have this problem. It's not designed to run past that for long periods of time. Owners fault.

Fords engineering is really good look at the size of engine compared to the maro smaller and more hp that's not easy

What's tuning got to do with a u-joint disintegrating? The car comes stock with 305hp, the drive train should be engineered to handle the power.

Poor engineering. If the car is capable of that speed, the components should be built to take it. Putting a limiter on it isn't a safeguard cos they can be taken off easy. Guy should've also realised summin was up at 130 n stopped accelerating

My cousin's E92 came without a limiter so it can run upto 186 MPH . And we've gone upto 177 MPH on the garden state pkwy at midnight . I will never forget that day :)

Pretty disappointing engineering. I had my Focus SVT with the Powerworks supercharger kit over 140 on a couple occasions. I also have gone faster in an 88 Toyota Supra. If a car has the power to reach 135mph the driveshaft should not fail at 135mph.
