Description: So someone has just bought themselves a new 2011 Ford Mustang V6. With a respectable output of 305hp, it also has a factory set maximum speed. If you want more power and speed, then you'll need ...Add Comments42
ProDragApr 22, 2012 why didn't he buy a one piece driveshaft?
Ryan FilkinsFeb 14, 2012 Is there any way to remove the speed limiter without taking the risk of this happening?
Max WaiteDec 23, 2011 Lol my civic can cruise at 137 for as long as I have the balls to do so. So much for my desire for American cars. At least Corvettes don't pull this shit
Cody AndreeDec 22, 2011 G8 was sick. gto was sick to. Period.
Carlie GeorgeDec 22, 2011 Wow this is "The battle "to keep it real Pontiac is a great company period .I would have got rid off vaxhall and Opel if I was gm ,and fords are weird they are extremely difficult to work on oh they didn't need a bailout cause they sold there name
P_R_N_DDec 21, 2011 @Brandon GM paid the government back already.... with interest. Sooo... we tax payers MADE money off that deal.
Zach CinkoskyDec 21, 2011 Keep in mind, people, that Pontiac was a lower-market brand than Buick or Cadillac. That's why it had to go. Lower margins on cars that they were also making for other marks.
Vincent ButlerDec 21, 2011 Well buying a v6 mustang or any American muscle v6 is pathetic.
Rueben J YslasDec 21, 2011 I like how my 2010 v6 camaro can easily get passed 140 and I've done it more than a few times. And these mustangs are limited below 135 how pathetic.
Scott GraceyDec 21, 2011 Good acceleration on it but 135mph is pretty weak, surprised its not 150-155
Zain SheikhDec 20, 2011 My cousin's E92 came without a limiter so it can run upto 186 MPH . And we've gone upto 177 MPH on the garden state pkwy at midnight . I will never forget that day :)
Daoo DaodaoDec 20, 2011 Haha love reading same people arguing about the same thing in like 3 different sections.
Alex CameronDec 20, 2011 For doesn't have there own diesel it's made by international, but they're junk too
Ambrosio AguilarDec 20, 2011 Same parts as a camaro and a vette hmmm doesn't sound bad to me what killed Pontiac was their plastic cars like the Aztec not the GTO or g8 damn trolls
Vince DeMasiDec 20, 2011 I own a 94 Pontiac trans am it's a daily driver and I take to the track some days hasn't let me down yet... And Pontiac was owned by gm alot of there cars were copies of Chevy cars so basically you guys are calling gm crap
Cody AndreeDec 20, 2011 Ps. Powerstroke is a heap. DMax all day long boys n girls. Had both chipped, fords diesal is junk.
Cody AndreeDec 20, 2011 As said before Brandon a 12 year old camaro z28 would easily hold it's own against ur precious slowmobile. Top speed is still above 155. And SS is 175. Hmmmm.
Cody AndreeDec 20, 2011 Brandon u r officially handicapped. But that's a nice way of saying it. Ur actually retarded. Very. Don't touch ur parents cars. And it 17? U don't even have a car hahaha. And v8 stang is limited to 155? What a piece.
Devin BabynDec 20, 2011 Yes there old cars were great but it's not the 70's there new products weren't good enough to stay competitive so stop bitching
Paul LissonaDec 20, 2011 Dad likes pontiacs I never did, his had transmission and brake problems. Those are common problems for those.
Kevin RehbockDec 20, 2011 Only on Carbuzz will a Mustang article turn into a Pontiac debate, I thought the Autoblog community was the worst.
Brady FeredayDec 20, 2011 Actually there old cars were and are amazing the gto the firebird and the g8 are sick cars yo
Devin BabynDec 20, 2011 Guys calm down Pontiac was a useless company if you miss them you have some horrid taste
Vince DeMasiDec 20, 2011 @brandon please grow up and stop trolling
Brady FeredayDec 20, 2011 That's a 350z sorry lots of Z's out there lol
Brady FeredayDec 20, 2011 Lol I've done 155 in my Z an that's where it's governed but I don't think there's much more in her I was around 5k rpms when I was going that fast lol
Chris BridgersDec 20, 2011 They shoulda said screw the bailout
the mustangs not a bad car, its been in production longer than the camaro.
pontiac was by no means bad, however sales showed it needed to die
Greg LewisDec 20, 2011 Pontiac died because of the GTO. They epically failed the design, it was a make or break car. If the goat was a hit like the new muscles, Buick would of went instead. Damn you Pontiac! Now a kit for the camaro to turn to GTO... :D
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 Brandon, if it were not for f-ing liberals General Motors wouldn't exist. I'm a conservative, I would've let them die. If you can't compete you have no place in the market.
Kevin RehbockDec 20, 2011 Driveshafts are like tires. Different types handle certain stresses.
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 Brandon, if you think pontiac was killed off because it was inferior in some way you are completely clueless. GM had to kill it to get a bailout from the government. Do us all a favor and don't post until you at least finish high school.
Teddy MacDonellDec 20, 2011 I have a mustang myself and I'm not defending them. some cars just aren't made for speed
Patrick SchalkDec 20, 2011 Brandon is just butt hurt about this video and is taking it out on other cars that still stomp on Rustangs.
Teddy MacDonellDec 20, 2011 yeah because during the recession gm didn't get enough bailout to save all of their brands. pontiac still made great cars including the car of the year g8
Teddy MacDonellDec 20, 2011 Pontiac is the first brand to actually make a muscle car... don't know why you're trolling
Josh SammonsDec 20, 2011 That's pathetic I hit 140 in the GTO with zero problems at all but that's a ford for you.Dont take them past factory specs
Justin TuckerDec 20, 2011 I hate how the limit the speed of cars....if your gonna have a "sports car" I would sorta like to have its full potential. But NOOOOOO the stupid law unforced that.....I hate the law..nd cops
Kent SullivanDec 20, 2011 115 in my FJ Cruiser is the best I got before the speed governor kicked in haha
Chris BridgersDec 20, 2011 That car prob had a bad shaft, Ive seen people do 140+ in 90s mustangs and saw 1 2001 stang pushing around 350 rhp b4 the engine blew out.
Clint EdwardsDec 20, 2011 I've done 120 ish in my Cummins, that's pretty poor. I'd bet that driveshaft was off-balance before he started
Charlie D'AmatoDec 20, 2011 Pretty disappointing engineering. I had my Focus SVT with the Powerworks supercharger kit over 140 on a couple occasions. I also have gone faster in an 88 Toyota Supra. If a car has the power to reach 135mph the driveshaft should not fail at 135mph.
Description: To start with, it lost the driveshaft when it ripped into the floor pan, in addition to some major damage to the exhaust system and muffler, and a broken transmission shifter and parking brake. Oh yea...Add Comments106
Broderick KingFeb 25, 2012 Away the limiter, there's so much work to be done after that.
Jairo GarciaFeb 16, 2012 Dayyuuummm, how did he not hear he's car sounding all weird at 130.
Jeremy BrownDec 22, 2011 I've done 120 in my stock 92 accord with over 200k and didn't have a problem (I was dumb an in HS) still have it with 266k and still runs like a champ and is still stock no dumb ass tunning or any of that shit.
Cody AndreeDec 22, 2011 Taking the limiter off isn't tuning Brandon. Is that what u do when u say u tune ur parents eclipse? Prolly not even a gsx. Had a 96 talon tsi. Rod bearing was pooched tho.
P_R_N_DDec 21, 2011 I can't believe everyone laughing at this guy for taking the limiter off. I wouldn't have thought an extra few mph would have caused all that, and he prob didn't either. And maybe he can't fkn afford the v8. I feel bad for this dude.
Jesse DemasiDec 21, 2011 @ Vincent someones clearly a fanboy of foreign cars and goes with the trends
Brady FeredayDec 21, 2011 Lol they have erased some comments xD
Vincent ButlerDec 21, 2011 American Cars are Shit Period.
Lee CascioDec 21, 2011 Usually if you're flooring your car and it starts to make crazy noises you let off the gas a little.
Vincent ButlerDec 21, 2011 I hit 135 in my 08 TL'S & it's Perfectly Fine. My interior didn't shred nor my car didn't Explode!
Kevin RehbockDec 21, 2011 After doing some math, the driveshaft is limited to 83% of its speed at which it gave out (112/135). Because of centripetal force, the stress it experienced is the square of the rotational speed, so at 112 mph, it's at 70% load. Because the stress is the square of its rotational speed, at 135 mph the driveshaft was put under 20% stress than it was engineered for. You can't beat numbers. For all th...
Dillon DixonDec 21, 2011 And I do recall camaros front plastic breaking when they first came out, if they went over 100mph.
Greg LewisDec 21, 2011 V6 challenger is limited to 138. Guess I have a better driveshaft? Hence the 10k lbs it weighs!! ;) and how bout the new camaro 6's what they designed for? Looks like ford is cutting corners to be the 0-60 champ...
Nicolas Blake MullenDec 20, 2011 Another reason this happened is because he's probably done this many times. This car is not BRAND SPANKING New, cause its got almost 18,000 miles on it. You never know what kinda dumb crap he did.
Nicolas Blake MullenDec 20, 2011 Brandon, your dumb. It didn't say anywhere the mustang was tuned........ Also, I've never heard anybody refer to a Camaro as a "maro" so quit trying to sound cool. G35's are not junk. You don't have 3 cars and you love to troll on this app.
Clay HigdonDec 20, 2011 Look at yahoo news. A guy wins a a lambo crashes it instantly.
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 Checked out you tube. There's a lot of these V6 mustangs demolishing drive shafts.
Brandon, don't comment. It's past your bedtime.
Axel CousinsDec 20, 2011 Hahahaha!!!!!! Don't film and drive! Jk! That sucks!
Shane JansenDec 20, 2011 Whoa that didn't look to good. That actually doesnt sound to bad for a v6 as well.
Nick EspinozaDec 20, 2011 Seems like Brandons trying to overcompensate... Just like this guy who owned the Mustang...
Morgan DameDec 20, 2011 Me and my dad did 150 in a maybach 57s
Clint EdwardsDec 20, 2011 @Chris thank you. It gets me when people say "all fords suck" or "every chevy is trash". Everybody's made a lemon. One car doesn't define an entire brand. Hell my Ram's knocking on 160K with not a peep wheras my buddy's Neon spilt the head at 90K
Clay BrewerDec 20, 2011 I think both stupid driver and bad ford engineering P.s I don't like chevy It's dodge all the way
Jason W. EversDec 20, 2011 But my 360 ci pushrod engine dating back to the 60's has hit 7k rpm since the rev limiter has been removed. Not that difficult. And Brandon is a douche
Daoo DaodaoDec 20, 2011 He did what he was not suppose to do. I don't think that's bad engineering. That's just stupid driver.
Alberto RajernoDec 20, 2011 Ps. The interior parts fell apart because the driveshaft blew up under the cabin and probably went through the floor panel. Which probably destroyed the center console...which is plastic
Alberto RajernoDec 20, 2011 Uhm. U take the rev limiter out and hit 8k. In most cars the engine would have blown hitting redline like that Props to the engine withstanding that and luckily it was the driveshaft.
Chris BjorgolfssonDec 20, 2011 It's tough to generalize to an entire brand unless you really have JD power data (or somebody else's data) based on thousands of vehicle examples to back you up.
Chris BjorgolfssonDec 20, 2011 Lol @Brandon.
Ford trucks don't do so bad in reliability studies but mustangs do, Ford manufactures in many different plants based on many engineer teams so it's usually hard to make a general statement about all of a manufacturers cars (except BMW)
Clint EdwardsDec 20, 2011 Ahh, basking in the love and friendship here.
Shane HeidDec 20, 2011 My nineteen year old thunderbird can do 165 on the stock shaft and rides smooth as glass an quiet.
Vincent ButlerDec 20, 2011 I would never buy An American Car. Imports for Life
Patrick SchalkDec 20, 2011 Thanks Clay! I could write an article on it and post a couple vids. And then I can make some vids on my Sheep Strangler (Jeep Wrangler). That's what my friends and I call it.
Vincent ButlerDec 20, 2011 I hit 135mph in my 08 TL'S. My car didn't explode lol. Or my interior fall apart. Lolol
Danny ReedDec 20, 2011 Duhhhh......I'm gonna do 135 in my Fiesta! Oh no wait thats stupid. I'll go buy a MUSTANG!!! Yeah! Now should I get the BOSS 302, the GT500, the GT, or...OH! OF COURSE! THE V6!!! Yes I is feelin smart today!
Paul DickeyDec 20, 2011 I'm with Brandon. And just sayin a lot of you guys need to grow up and keep these comments about the cars and not people's personnel lives, and stop string so heated. Damn
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 Brandon, show your parents your previous comments about how fast you've had their vehicles. If they love you they will beat you until you can't sit down and pull your license until you move out.
Devin BabynDec 20, 2011 I love that you're comment was talking about reliability and then you say you like BMW
Clay HigdonDec 20, 2011 Every article on here should be about Patricks camaro. Congrats man.
Paul LissonaDec 20, 2011 Fords are usually the most reliable American vehicles, their trucks are always way better than gm especially. Another example crown victorias are really reliable. I like BMW and Honda the best but still.
David GrayDec 20, 2011 @Brandon. Sshhh now pal, digging a big hole.
Secondly, the car should be engineered to its actual top speed, not a limit set by the factory. This would ensure it is safe on the road. Even with clowns behind the wheel.
Kevin RehbockDec 20, 2011 I just realized he's holding a camera while going 120. The legal implications are piling high..
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 I put a K&N filter and sticker on my Frontier. I'm officially a tuner!
Carlos Ernesto GarciaDec 20, 2011 This is why i call mustangs potes
(spanish not auto correct)
Chris BridgersDec 20, 2011 I got that and a royal purple sticker, that means i got 20 more hp=P
Michael PalazzoDec 20, 2011 @ Colin, are you daft? lots of cars can go 135+, not most lots tho. And I'm definatley not lying about going as fast my listed top speed is 155.....
Dillon DixonDec 20, 2011 I like how almost everybody that mentioned that their car can go that fast, has a v8 in it, not a v6.
If he didn't take the limiter off, he wouldn't have this problem. It's not designed to run past that for long periods of time. Owners fault.
Jason BrowerDec 20, 2011 @Brandon, you're on the losing side of this. Prepare to be trolled out of existence. You obviously don't respect your parent's cars if you take them to those speeds.
Greg LewisDec 20, 2011 Patrick, sorry my 92 RS Camaro 5.slow with a mere 186k on it would stomp your bugatti killer! (I even have a flowmaster sticker on it)
Jason W. EversDec 20, 2011 One "kid" specifically I was referring to.
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 @Patrick, congrats on the fastest car in the world!
Vince DeMasiDec 20, 2011 @patrick wanna swap your LS1 for my LT1? I would love to have an LSx car haha
Luis A VillalpandoDec 20, 2011 @ Kevin good point too many people seem to hate Ford for no apparent reason.
Riley McKelvieDec 20, 2011 @ricardo, What?!! A car that can go more than 140? I honestly don't believe you. Fastest car in the world is Patrick's camaro
Patrick SchalkDec 20, 2011 No Ricardo, I have the fastest car in the world. A 98 Camaro Z28 is faster than a Bugatti Veyron SS and Ultimate Aero.
Quinn ConnerDec 20, 2011 Wow people. It's the driveline that broke, NOT bad "tuning". Learn how cars work before you get on your "v8 is king" arguments.
Kevin RehbockDec 20, 2011 Why does Ford's engineering matter now? They did nothing but sell him the car. This idiotic owner did not know the limits of his car until it was too late. Bashing Ford all day makes you guys sound stupid.
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 No kid here, I'm 42 and have owned a lot of different vehicles.
Brandon, if my kids ever assume that the vehicles I've bought and paid for are theirs simply because they're parked at my house they will never drive them again. Typical spoiled kid.
David GrayDec 20, 2011 @Cho. So glad to have found someone on here that doesn't just big up ZR1s and actually knows what they talkin about! I love arguing with some of the idiots u find on here
Ricardo RodriguezDec 20, 2011 @Patrick you're wrong obviously not the fastest car there's car that do almost twice 140mph the hennessey venom GT top speed 275mph that's the manufacturer claim though we still need to see the test.
Teddy MacDonellDec 20, 2011 this car was not engineered by ford to go that fast. that's why the limiter was put on it. I don't think there's any problems with the car or with ford because of this
James Jay PutnamDec 20, 2011 Fords engineering is really good look at the size of engine compared to the maro smaller and more hp that's not easy
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 @David, that's my point exactly. You think M3, you think all around performance from the intake to the exhaust tips, no weak points. The car is designed and built to handle the power period. Ford needs to detune the engine or upgrade the drivetrain.
Patrick SchalkDec 20, 2011 Colin my Camaro has done 140 no problem. How weird. I guess my car is the only one in the world that can go over 135 without imploding! I have the fastest car in the world!!!
Jason W. EversDec 20, 2011 Lol kids driving their parents' cars and talking big...pathetic. MY old '92 318 Ram did 120, but that was dumb as hell and almost 15 years ago. Stuff happens.
David GrayDec 20, 2011 Colin my M3 does 155 no tuning, no problem
Colin BarrDec 20, 2011 Also: mustang has been beating the Camaro in comparison tests both years of it's return. Also no surprise. Dont believe me, read Motor trend, car and driver, road and track, they all say it, or YouTube
Colin BarrDec 20, 2011 This isn't my fanboy side speaking, ford is the best American company, beating Chrysler and GM year in and year out. F150 just won truck of the year. No surprise. So don't say ford has bad quality and engineering you guys are the worst
Colin BarrDec 20, 2011 I swear this app is bias. And all these chevy fanboys do is hate instead of look at the facts. Every car has it's limits. Don't say it should be able to handle 135+ without tuning. No car can, and if you say yours can you're a liar.
Chris BjorgolfssonDec 20, 2011 "tuning" your car by removing the limiter shouldn't make your U-joint suddenly be made out of poor materials...
Chris BjorgolfssonDec 20, 2011 Cho is spot on and Brandon says a lot of stupid stuff on here, don't pay him much mind.
David GrayDec 20, 2011 There's no mention of any tuning done by the owner Brandon. All he's done is taken the factory speed limiter off, simple job. Cho you are completely right, my point exactly
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 Brandon, what do you know? In another post you said you can't wait till you're 18, but in this post you say you've had YOUR tundra over 120, YOUR Lexus over 140, and YOUR eclipse over 120. Are you lying or did you win the lottery?
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 Brandon, what about pointing out the inferior quality of the materials that ford chose to make this thing out of is un-American. Products like this are what gives America a bad name. For what it cost this car should NEVER break.
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 What's tuning got to do with a u-joint disintegrating? The car comes stock with 305hp, the drive train should be engineered to handle the power.
Jesse DemasiDec 20, 2011 Damn that sucks a lot. I got my trans am up to 135 @3500 rpms and my car was running so smooth probably because my car is set up right I feel like this guy didn't do it right at all
Michael PalazzoDec 20, 2011 Hahaha I've gone that fast in my V6 2010 Camaro without altering anything and the ride is smooth with no problems.
Teddy MacDonellDec 20, 2011 this is almost as stupid as people with stock v6's trying to burnouts without upgraded drive shafts.. don't do what your car can't handle
Ryan ChavezDec 20, 2011 I have an 02 GT and I've taken it to 145 more than once, with over 100,000miles she took it very well no vibrations at all
Jamal AfzalDec 20, 2011 Oh forgot to tell it's 1989! Duh! And 2011...let's not even talk.....
Jamal AfzalDec 20, 2011 You know My Diesel Pajero can go up to 90 mph and can go more if less wind and no speed barrier!!!lol. Shame on Mustang!!!
Patrick SchalkDec 20, 2011 Hahahahahaha. Oh gosh. This one is gonna make my day ALL day. Thanks CarBuzz!
Luis A VillalpandoDec 20, 2011 Ford is not crap, Mustangs don't suck, and some people are true idiots! How do people do such stupid things? Really idiotic what this guy did. Oh and if you want a fast car just get a Roush Mustang, I've taken mine up to its limit no problem
Scott LenahanDec 20, 2011 push a performance car not a v6.. you don't get one to break the sound barrier.. get the gt500 for that.
David GrayDec 20, 2011 Poor engineering. If the car is capable of that speed, the components should be built to take it. Putting a limiter on it isn't a safeguard cos they can be taken off easy.
Guy should've also realised summin was up at 130 n stopped accelerating
Chris BjorgolfssonDec 20, 2011 Mustangs just suck. The GT and even some of the Fucus' like the RS are pretty cool but these things suck and they are pretty ugly too.
James HimselDec 20, 2011 Id like to see you take a V6 camaro and do the same stuff this guy did. Or even a V6 challenger. When you do stupid things to a car, bad things are gunna start happening.
Nathan CurtisDec 20, 2011 I'm a lover of all cars, but ford has some seriously crappy stuff. I don't like ford. And don't call me a Chevy fanboy.
Chris BridgersDec 20, 2011 The cars great, it obvious wasnt tuned correctly. Any car will get destroyed if abused.
Mustangs sure as hell aint cheap, my 96 has no issues. minus needing new knuckles.
Josiah Thomas ClementsDec 20, 2011 @brandon: you failed to realize That the interior started falling apart at 135mph... That's beyond pathetic. That is why I will never buy a ford. Shoddy engineering. And no, I'm not a chevy fan either. I'm simply explaining why this car is junk.
Danny TranDec 20, 2011 Cheap pos Even the interior started falling apart? Wtf
Clint EdwardsDec 20, 2011 That was pretty funny. Serves him right for buying a V6 mustang
Ivan RudnitskyDec 20, 2011 What a cheap car. My g35 can hit those speeds no problem.
Mathew Caleb StanfieldDec 20, 2011 Lol this exactly why I would never buy a ford. He broke the car doing exactly what most people wanna try to do in this kind of car
Adam SampsonDec 20, 2011 So 2 options here:
1 - Ford's engineers bought their degree's online and hence have no understanding of a safety factor, or
2 - This is a poorly made piece of junk.
Hmmmmm...
Jason W. EversDec 20, 2011 That thing accelerated much faster than I was expecting. Impressive.
Dale SchroederDec 20, 2011 So what, did he think the tachometer's red zone was a bonus horsepower area? Oh well. Enjoy your two ton paperweight, buddy!
Anthony J. MitchellDec 20, 2011 He did it to himself. What an idiot, now he has a piece of crap that he gets to make payments on every month.
Vince DeMasiDec 20, 2011 It is a mustang V6 what was he thinking
Cho DanDec 20, 2011 Why would ford give a car 305hp and limit the speed to 145mph? Answer: because the car is made out of junk and will disintegrate at that speed.
Description: And to top this all off, the guy was filming the entire thing by hand when going over 100 mph. So congratulations to this now former Mustang V6 owner; his idiotic deeds are inspiration for us all on w...Add Comments12
Clint EdwardsDec 21, 2011 @Nicolas never mind the fact that this isn't actually NEWS
Robert LantzDec 21, 2011 When cars were made of plastic
Greg LewisDec 21, 2011 Yeah old shafts would really take a beating. My Torino has eaten several uv joints, but never failed. When did ford change to shotty equipment??
Nicolas Blake MullenDec 20, 2011 I bet you won't hear about this on the news. No one wants to trash "American" made cars. Especially not the biased liberal news- minus fox.
Jared PalmerDec 20, 2011 Ori is the most common name of middle eastern baby rapers.
Ambrosio AguilarDec 20, 2011 The drive shaft should not have broken at that speed though hmmm weird
Luis A VillalpandoDec 20, 2011 Sheesh, some people just don't understand...
Luis A VillalpandoDec 20, 2011 There are some truly idiotic people who own all kinds of cars, not just Mustangs. To those who say that the parts can't hold together @ 135-145 well the speed itself is not what did it, the vibrations from the malfunctioning part did the damage
Ori HavivDec 20, 2011 Mustang owners are not smart
Boyd BoudreauxDec 20, 2011 Yeah I bet he had to change his draws, but damn really sad that the mustangs parts can't hold together at 135 to 145. What happen to under rating, parts should be tested to higher standard.
Vincent ButlerDec 21, 2011 Patrick I love the 2000 cobra. My friend Had his supercharged 600hp. God I literally shit my oants
Greg LewisDec 21, 2011 I side with patrick. Ford has gotten sloppy. I owned mustangs, camaro's and now a challenger... and never had this issue. Ford is cutting corners. GM make me a GTO CONVERSION KIT! And I'll be buying a camaro next
Patrick SchalkDec 20, 2011 Wow you must surround yourself with good people. I've met a lot douchier people than me. I like very few Stangs. But one of my favorite cars ever is the 03-04 Cobra. Don't get your panties in a bunch.
Chris BridgersDec 20, 2011 This is more for looks/casual driving.
Danny ReedDec 20, 2011 And wasn't this car meant to do about 70 or so normally? this is a V6
Kevin RehbockDec 20, 2011 The bigger problem is under the hood.
Chris BridgersDec 20, 2011 I see what you did there patrick lol
Clint EdwardsDec 20, 2011 @Luis he's referring to the logo.
Jason DannheimDec 20, 2011 But the Mustang with it's archaic technology bests the Camaro in almost all tests and has a nimbler, livelier feel.
Shane JansenDec 20, 2011 And the GTs speedometer probably stops at 200 or so, and the 2013 Shelby like 240. Most cars show like 30 more mph than the car is capable of.
Kevin RehbockDec 20, 2011 Why have the gauges read 160 if it's limited to 112? This isn't a GT.
why didn't he buy a one piece driveshaft?
Is there any way to remove the speed limiter without taking the risk of this happening?
Civics are limited to 125
Lol my civic can cruise at 137 for as long as I have the balls to do so. So much for my desire for American cars. At least Corvettes don't pull this shit
G8 was sick. gto was sick to. Period.
Wow this is "The battle "to keep it real Pontiac is a great company period .I would have got rid off vaxhall and Opel if I was gm ,and fords are weird they are extremely difficult to work on oh they didn't need a bailout cause they sold there name
@Brandon GM paid the government back already.... with interest. Sooo... we tax payers MADE money off that deal.
Keep in mind, people, that Pontiac was a lower-market brand than Buick or Cadillac. That's why it had to go. Lower margins on cars that they were also making for other marks.
Well buying a v6 mustang or any American muscle v6 is pathetic.
I like how my 2010 v6 camaro can easily get passed 140 and I've done it more than a few times. And these mustangs are limited below 135 how pathetic.
Good acceleration on it but 135mph is pretty weak, surprised its not 150-155
My cousin's E92 came without a limiter so it can run upto 186 MPH . And we've gone upto 177 MPH on the garden state pkwy at midnight . I will never forget that day :)
Haha love reading same people arguing about the same thing in like 3 different sections.
For doesn't have there own diesel it's made by international, but they're junk too
Same parts as a camaro and a vette hmmm doesn't sound bad to me what killed Pontiac was their plastic cars like the Aztec not the GTO or g8 damn trolls
I own a 94 Pontiac trans am it's a daily driver and I take to the track some days hasn't let me down yet... And Pontiac was owned by gm alot of there cars were copies of Chevy cars so basically you guys are calling gm crap
Ps. Powerstroke is a heap. DMax all day long boys n girls. Had both chipped, fords diesal is junk.
As said before Brandon a 12 year old camaro z28 would easily hold it's own against ur precious slowmobile. Top speed is still above 155. And SS is 175. Hmmmm.
Brandon u r officially handicapped. But that's a nice way of saying it. Ur actually retarded. Very. Don't touch ur parents cars. And it 17? U don't even have a car hahaha. And v8 stang is limited to 155? What a piece.
Yes there old cars were great but it's not the 70's there new products weren't good enough to stay competitive so stop bitching
Dad likes pontiacs I never did, his had transmission and brake problems. Those are common problems for those.
Only on Carbuzz will a Mustang article turn into a Pontiac debate, I thought the Autoblog community was the worst.
Actually there old cars were and are amazing the gto the firebird and the g8 are sick cars yo
Guys calm down Pontiac was a useless company if you miss them you have some horrid taste
@brandon please grow up and stop trolling
That's a 350z sorry lots of Z's out there lol
Lol I've done 155 in my Z an that's where it's governed but I don't think there's much more in her I was around 5k rpms when I was going that fast lol
They shoulda said screw the bailout the mustangs not a bad car, its been in production longer than the camaro. pontiac was by no means bad, however sales showed it needed to die
Pontiac died because of the GTO. They epically failed the design, it was a make or break car. If the goat was a hit like the new muscles, Buick would of went instead. Damn you Pontiac! Now a kit for the camaro to turn to GTO... :D
Brandon, if it were not for f-ing liberals General Motors wouldn't exist. I'm a conservative, I would've let them die. If you can't compete you have no place in the market.
Driveshafts are like tires. Different types handle certain stresses.
Brandon, if you think pontiac was killed off because it was inferior in some way you are completely clueless. GM had to kill it to get a bailout from the government. Do us all a favor and don't post until you at least finish high school.
I have a mustang myself and I'm not defending them. some cars just aren't made for speed
Brandon is just butt hurt about this video and is taking it out on other cars that still stomp on Rustangs.
yeah because during the recession gm didn't get enough bailout to save all of their brands. pontiac still made great cars including the car of the year g8
Pontiac is the first brand to actually make a muscle car... don't know why you're trolling
That's pathetic I hit 140 in the GTO with zero problems at all but that's a ford for you.Dont take them past factory specs
I hate how the limit the speed of cars....if your gonna have a "sports car" I would sorta like to have its full potential. But NOOOOOO the stupid law unforced that.....I hate the law..nd cops
115 in my FJ Cruiser is the best I got before the speed governor kicked in haha
That car prob had a bad shaft, Ive seen people do 140+ in 90s mustangs and saw 1 2001 stang pushing around 350 rhp b4 the engine blew out.
I've done 120 ish in my Cummins, that's pretty poor. I'd bet that driveshaft was off-balance before he started
Pretty disappointing engineering. I had my Focus SVT with the Powerworks supercharger kit over 140 on a couple occasions. I also have gone faster in an 88 Toyota Supra. If a car has the power to reach 135mph the driveshaft should not fail at 135mph.
