Ralph Lauren Introduces Model Classic Car Collection

Unique scale models of Ralph Lauren’s rare cars are as precise as they are expensive.

The fashion icon with an abundant car collection that features more than 70 supercars and exotic classics, Ralph Lauren has taken the unique step of recreating four of his personal favorites into scale models and put them up for sale. A 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, a McLaren F1 LM, his $25 million 1960 Ferrari 250 GTO and the staggering $40 million 1938 Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe were the quartet chosen for the project.

1:8 scale models were created by digitally scanning the real cars allowing makers to get the attention-to-detail down to a tenth of a millimeter; 3000 hours were spent putting the models together. Avid collectors are sure to revel at the chance to own these one-off models, which sit encased on a custom designed Ralph Lauren podium. Interested parties can purchase the models via the brand's official website; however the $9,500 price tag may force them to reconsider whether the money might be better spent on an actual working automobile. Featured are the aforementioned quartet as well as a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Mille Miglia and 1929 Bentley Blower.
