The Fiat 500 kept Abarth busy with more variations, one of which is a track version.
Abarth, Fiat's tuning division, is set to show off three new version based on the Fiat 500 at the forthcoming Bologna Show: two versions are Abarth 595, "turismo" and "Competizione" and the third is Abarth 695, a track version of the Fiat 500. The Abarth 595, based on the Fiat 500, comes with a 1.4-litre turbo T-Jet engine with 160 hp and 131mph top speed. The two versions differ from each other mainly in their cosmetics, though there are also a few mechanicals distinctions to each of them.
The "turismo" is painted in a two-tone livery, Rosso Officina and Grigio Pista livery with white liner. It is embellished with the revival of the historic 595 logo in aluminium on the side panel and tailgate, the latter further personalized with the aluminium Turismo graphics. It sits on Gran Turismo inspired titanium-coloured 17" alloy wheels. The"turismo" offers as standard the electrically-operated manual Competizione gearbox with controls on the steering wheel. The "competizione", is equipped with 5-speed MT (Manual Transmission) that should create direct relationship with the car.
The metallic Grigio Record livery is completed with 17" titanium-colored alloy wheels whose design is borrowed from racing, with yellow Brembo brake calipers. The Abarth 695 "Asseto Corse" is designed for track racing. Its 1.4-liter turbo engine is capable of 205hp and at the spoiler at the front is a statement of intent: aggressive and decorated with the Abarth logo and underneath, a broader bumper complete with aerodynamic spoiler and screen-printed grilles instead of the plastic masks of the standard version. The rear of the car features a winged spoiler, a badge bearing the Abarth logo and a twin exhaust pipe.
17" light alloy racing wheels compliment its combative posture. On the inside, the Abarth 695 "Assetto Corse" contains all of the safety equipment required by FIA regulations, including a roll-bar welded to the body that has been further optimized to improve its torsional stiffness.
