AMG Muscles Its Way with Powerful LA Auto Show Display

The new C63 AMG and ML63 AMG have landed in North America.

We were waiting for the C63 AMG Black Series since its unveiling last summer, and now, it's finally landed on American soil. In typical Mercedes-Benz origin, as opposed to the current trend of turbo engines, AMG preferred a naturally aspirated and bigger engine: the famous 6.3-liter V8 that delivers 517hp at 6,800 rpm and has a peak torque of 457lb-ft at 5,000 rpm. It accelerates to 62mph in just 4.2 seconds.

To improve performance, an AMG rear-axle differential lock was added and braking comes courtesy of six-piston calipers at the front with 390mm discs. At the rear you'll find four-piston calipers with 360mm discs. Complete with 19-inch 10-spoke AMG alloy wheels, the coupe looks great and will certainly give some solid competition to the BMW M3 coupe. AMG also introduced their powerful new SUV, the ML63 AMG, equipped with the new 5.5L V8 bi-turbo engine with 518hp. It takes just 4.8 seconds to hit 62 mph and top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

The four valves per cylinder engine with camshaft adjustment, has many other hi-tech features such as spray-guided direct gasoline injection, start/stop system, an all-aluminum crankcase, air-water charge air cooling and generator management.
