Official: 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

At long last we can reveal the Genesis Coupe in all its glory.
Finally, we have the full lowdown on the Genesis Coupe and there's plenty to get excited by. Presented at the Korea Speed Festival on Saturday with preliminary details, we now have a host of official photos and the domestic market brochure that includes acceleration figures and fuel economy numbers. First off, the facelifted Genesis Coupe has the new 3.8-liter GDi, a V6 with direct-injection technology producing 345hp and 295lb-ft of torque. With an improvement of 43hp and 29lb-ft over the current V6, it now has considerably more power.

This translates to a 0-62mph sprint time of 5.9 seconds, a fuel economy of 22.6mpg, and CO2 emissions of 227g/km. Simply put, it's now a serious rival to the Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro. The base model has also been updated with a 2.0-liter TCi featuring a larger radiator cooler and twin-scroll turbocharger; the result: 271hp and 275lb-ft of torque, a 0-62mph sprint time of 7.2 seconds, fuel economy of 25.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 212g/km. Both engines come with a standard 6-speed manual and an optional eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Veloster's new hexagonal grille, restyled headlights and LED positioning lamps, revised tail lamps with LEDs, and a brand-new center console with revamped a/c and audio systems are other noteworthy specs of the 2013MY Genesis Coupe, which is slated to reach North American showrooms in the first half of the new year.
