Crown Victorias are better, rear wheel drive more durable and easier traditional to maintain.
All of this in a city with a crime rate of almost 0. It has just always flustered me to no end.
Around $1,200,000 a year, and they have a police force of something like 8-9 officers, each with an 870, M4, and the latest 4th gen Glock. With expensive 3 inch non lethal ammo, frangible 5.56 , and top shelf HPs in obscure expensive calibers.
The problem was, we never got it. We were using magazines from god knows when. They were worn shiny, had horrid followers, and sketchy springs. I guess my view of PDs is warped by the one where I live. They get half my small towns budget.
Wow Ken, I wish my department was like what you thought. Our cars usually have to last us to 15000 miles (Not easy miles). I personally think they should give the cops Mustang GTs or Chargers. Why because those cars are faster than these kinda cars!
The flow of cash is pretty screwed. My brother in law quit because he worked there for 3 years with no gain, the week after he walked they ordered 2 brand new Chargers

Because this is the time to buy NEW stuff for the police? It's not enough that they buy the most expensive ammunition and military style weapons and armor.... Now they 'need' NEW cars with GPS, satellite Internet, and ipads.
The crown vic was an iconic car but really had started showing its age, the Impalas and especially Chargers were better at handling and top speed. The new Interceptor should help that. And you guys are right, Speed usually dosent stop the pursuit, Its usually a lack of driving skill on the suspects part. Normally you just have to keep him in sight and he will screw up. Hopefully not hurting anyone...
I do know that speed doesn't always catch the "bad guys" but I think that this Taurus sho pi will be better than the crown vics, with all wheel drive and decent acceleration, just a better overall tool
The intercepter looks mean, but just cuz I own a dodge charger R/T Daytona, I got to go with the dodge intercepter instead >:)...
Not many people got away when crown Vics were chasin them, coordination not speed catches the bad guys. Still they look nicer than the vics

Fwd are not choice of law enforcement. And awd will be too expensive for departments to buy/maintain. The charger will become choice for a lot of agencies, or the new caprice. Ford screwed up. And Tahoe is suv choice for most already.
Money. I'm glad for the police and they desereve a lot more for what they do. So kudos to them. And I hope they enjoy their rides

Wake up and smell the fear these police machines will instill in your hearts as you get pulled over for going 5 mph over the speed limit. Or forbid you have a tail light out and you get pulled over by 3 of these things. Ooooh, we're such criminals!!!

Taurus is awsome. I wish I had a Taurus. My family use to have an ancient one that we got for a grand at a police auction. It was our winter car and it was oodles of fun.
Uk cop cars are crap! We have volvo's and vahxhalls. But America have waay better cars! :)
Not gonna sell well... maybe if it was an SUV it would, but a crossover? Not so much
