Peugeot’s 4008 SUV Now Unveiled

The 2012 Peugeot 4008 SUV will be available with 2WD and 4WD transmission modes.

Production is imminent of the 2012 Peugeot 4008, a compact SUV/crossover based on the Mitsubishi ASX platform. It is set to run on four different engine types: two gasoline engines, a 1.6-liter (116hp, 112lb-ft) and a 2.0-liter (150hp, 146lb-ft); and two HDi FAP diesels, a 1.6-liter (112hp, 199lb-ft) and 1.8-liter (150hp, 221lb-ft). The diesels will be exclusively linked to 6-speed manuals, whilst gasoline models are both 5-speed manuals (with an optional CVT automatic for the 2.0-liter).

It seems that Peugeot, by completing its range of cars for all-terrain customers, is targeting buyers that demand dynamic, strong ability, in addition to efficient fuel economy and a multi-purpose vehicle. There is a distinct Peugeot identity with its cat-like lamp unit design and floating grille, whilst the off-road personality is enhanced by wheel arch protection trims accommodating the large wheels, and the body still protectors. Extensive light is provided for passengers via a glass panoramic roof. Drivers also benefit from a touch-screen navigation system and reversing camera, owing to the brand's commitment to modernity and creating an upmarket all-terrain vehicle.

There's plenty of space for occupants in the front and rear despite the car's compactness will ensure the 4008 is suitable for daily use and leisure getaways, and added control, especially when in the AWD configuration and in three other modes: 2WD, 4WD and LOCK; the latter two benefiting from torque being directed to all four wheels with distribution electronically controlled according to road conditions. For a closer look, the Peugeot 4008 will premiere at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next March, and prices will be announced closer to its official release date in the second quarter of next year.
