Gumpert Torante to Debut at Geneva

Gumpert has announced that their second model will make its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Although details are limited, we know the car's name will be the Torante. It was designed by the famous Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. It will also "add space, elegance, and comfort" as a two-seater "Fast Tourer" variant of the performance-tuned Apollo. Additionally, it will feature a composite body, a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, and a mid-mounted V8.

Nothing has been revealed about the output, but knowing the Apollo utilizes a 4.2-liter bi-turbo V8 with 641 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, we're not at all concerned that Gumpert will fail in the power department. The difference we're really hoping to see, however, is design. No doubt the Apollo is an amazingly fast car, but it doesn't even come close to being called elegant. This silhouette teaser released by Gumpert is the only thing we have to go on until the Torante's debut on March 1st.
