Dodge Caliber

The Caliber is the entry-level model for Dodge, just below the Avenger.
It is a small four-door hatchback with an interesting design consisting of a raised seating position to resemble a small SUV. Powered by a standard 2.0 liter four cylinder and five-speed manual transmission, the combination provides just adequate acceleration. The upgraded engine is a 2.4 liter four cylinder with 172 horsepower and offers a CVT transmission. Engine noise is noticeable in both.

The base SE model does not come standard with air conditioning, power windows, door locks, or mirrors, but carries a base price of just under $17,000. As such, it's worth considering spending a bit more to get some of these creature comforts. A top-of-the-line Caliber runs around $20,000.
