The X-Raid team has unveiled their Mini Countryman ALL4 Racing in preparation for the 33rd Personal Dakar Argentina-Chile, which starts in January. The Mini shares a fair amount of mechanical underpinnings with the BMW X3 CC rally car, including the 315 horsepower twin-turbo diesel. The Mini is both shorter and lower than the X3 CC, and it is expected that this will give it improved handling.
The Mini was also developed with the thought in mind to make the car more serviceable than the X3 as well. This means than even the body panels are more easily removed to allow for better access to mechanical components. The vehicle is somewhat more difficult to get in and out of, but not so much as to offset the many advantages that it offers. The race kicks off on New Year's Day in Buenos Aires.
